Free Apps to save YOU Money!

Today I am going to show you the quickest ways to earn money legitimately, through your iPhone or Android. (In this post, all apps can be used for both devices).

This will not turn you into a millionaire overnight and do not quit your job. But, you can earn enough money to treat yourself to a few items for yourself and a friend, splurge on a holiday outing (Starbucks anyone?) or purchase a few holiday or birthday gifts for free! Hey, every bit counts!


  1. Ibotta - https://ibotta.com
This app is so versatile! You can save on pharmacy items, clothing, groceries, gas stations, craft places, travel, bars, restaurants, and online stores. I personally have used this app with ease at Target, Kroger, Publix, Amazon.com (This was recently added), Best Buy, Walmart and even Uber! Depending on where you live and your zip code will determine what stores will pop up for your area. NEW USERS GET 10.00 for signing up!! Its a limited time offer, so take advantage! You can withdraw cash at 20.00 minimum. If you are consistent, you can accumulate money quickly.

 Here is how I used the app for maximum savings:

  • Look at your local supermarket weekly ad flyer.
  • Sign up for digital coupons for your local grocer. If you can't do it online, just ask customer service how you can sign up!
  • Make a note of what is on sale in the store weekly ad.
  • Open the free Ibotta app.
  • Scan items while shopping to make sure they are the items offered as rebates.
  • Purchase those items viewed in your Ibotta app.
  • Scan your receipt in your Ibotta app for the items you purchased.
  • Then Voila! You should get a message from Ibotta stating you earned X amount of dollars or cents.
Form of payment that is given: PayPal, Venmo or gift cards. (I usually get the gift cards to help with holiday shopping.)

BUT WAIT! Do not throw those receipts away just yet!!  

   2. Shopkick - https://www.shopkick.com

Ahh...that warm fuzzy feeling that I get when I hear the sound of that bell chime from this app when I enter a store. Another simple app. Easy to use AND earn gift cards (Sorry there is no PayPal here.) You simply earn points by walking into a listed store (seriously, no joke.) Open the app at the front of the entrance so it can detect the Internet and in no time you'll hear the sweet sound of the bell chime alerting you that you've earned points! Got a bit of extra time to shop? There is a list of items that Shopkick will ask you to scan. Scan those items and earn more points. realized the items you scanned you want to buy? No problem! You get even more points if you purchase that item. I have earned 10.00 in two weeks from being consistent. You can also link your credit or debit card to this to gain additional points. I have not done this yet, but will certainly test it out and update this blog post to let you know. Your points don't expire and you can save them for bigger prizes. You can get LOTS of savings from this app and yes, if you have kids you can turn this into a game. Have them help you look for the items or even guess how many points you can get for this one shopping trip. Use the same receipt from the last trip (perhaps there is an item from Ibotta on there.) and BOOM. You just maximized your savings, AGAIN. :-)

There are also ads on the app that notifies you of additional kicks you can get around holidays and on the weekend--so check in often on this app!

Form of payment:a variety of gift cards (Target, Walmart, Foot Locker, Starbucks..etc..) or save your points for big ticket items like iPads, Coach gift card (I know what mam is saving up for this holiday season!) and a scooter.

3. Checkout 51 - https://checkout51.com

Hope you still have those trusty receipts! This app is similar to Ibotta. Purchase the items listed in their app, scan your receipt and it will give you a small notification that your purchase item was approved. This app does not offer gift cards, but will mail you a check in 5-15 business days. Still, another great option for savings and again, every bit counts! There can also be multiple people in the household that can have an account and also save from this app.  Checkout 51 also offers its members in their sweepstakes when you redeem an offer. They offer recipes and ways where you can double up on the savings that are listed on their app through qualified items. However, there are notifications on their website for hot selling items and after a certain number of people redeem the offer, it can possibly not be available for you to redeem anymore. So, get those savings and submit those receipts ASAP!
